Question 1

How do I try a class?

Accepted Answer

Start with our intro offer: three classes plus a brand new uniform — a $45 value — for $20. Book online or call 757-927-5316 and we'll match you to the right class time.

Question 2

Do I need any experience?

Accepted Answer

None. Every class has beginners in it, and our instructors teach to each level in the same room. You will be given something you can do on your very first day.

Question 3

What should we wear to the first class?

Accepted Answer

Comfortable athletic clothes and bare feet. We train barefoot on mats. Your uniform is included with the intro, so you'll have it after the first visit.

Question 4

Are there contracts?

Accepted Answer

After your intro classes, we'll walk you through the membership options in plain language so you can choose what fits your family.

Question 5

What martial art do you teach?

Accepted Answer

Hapkido — a Korean art that combines strikes, joint locks, throws and escapes. It's built around practical self-defense rather than sport competition, which is why it works for kids, adults and families alike.

Question 6

Is it safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Falling is taught before throwing, control is taught before power, and class sizes stay small enough that instructors see every student. Students work at a pace their instructor sets.

Question 7

Will martial arts make my child aggressive?

Accepted Answer

The opposite. We teach Hapkido as a way of life foundation — respect, control and restraint come before technique. Kids who know they can defend themselves rarely feel the need to prove it.

Question 8

How long does it take to earn a black belt?

Accepted Answer

It depends entirely on the student, how often they train and how they test. We'd rather give you an honest answer in person than a number on a web page. Ask us at your first class.

Question 9

Where are you located?

Accepted Answer

5741 George Washington Memorial Highway, Yorktown, VA 23692. We serve families from Yorktown, Hampton Roads, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg.

Question 10

What are your class times?

Accepted Answer

Class times vary by program and age group. Call 757-927-5316 or send us a message and we'll send you the current schedule for the class you're interested in.

Question 11

Can parents watch?

Accepted Answer

Always. We have viewing space and we want you to see what your child is learning — it makes the conversations at home much better.

Question 12

Do you run birthday parties?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Parties are for ages 5–12, run 90–120 minutes, and cost $299 for up to 15 guests. Every child breaks a board and you do zero setup or cleanup.
